Two trims with the same chassis code can still differ in knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel ET clearance — which is why we confirm your trim first, then build the matched system of calipers, pads, rotor hats, floating hardware, and lines for it. Modified knuckles, uprights, or non-factory suspension points require review before ordering.

CCB-Specific Pad Compound

A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.

Lower Unsprung Mass

A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.

High-Temperature Stability

The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.

Winter & Cold-Weather Braking

Winter question, straight answer: untuned ceramic discs bite less when cold. StopFlex optimized the pad compound and the rotor's ceramic coating for cold operation, so cold-start braking in winter feels very close to warm-weather braking. Extra following distance on freezing first stops is still smart; severe-winter daily cars should run Street Spec.

Caliper Overview

Front Caliper

The front runs the Brembo OEM Porsche 911 GT3 6-piston monobloc caliper clamping a 410mm carbon-ceramic rotor. It's genuine GT3 hardware, so pedal firmness stays consistent lap after lap without the taper you get from lesser fixed calipers.

Rear Caliper

The rear uses the Brembo OEM Porsche 911 GT3 4-piston caliper on a 390mm rotor, adding real thermal headroom at the axle that does most of the heat soaking during trail-braking. It's matched to the front for balanced release and even pad wear.

Heat Management Note

High rotor temperature tolerance does not mean heat management disappears. Under repeated hard braking, heat migrates into the pads, brake fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels even when the ceramic disc itself is comfortable. Plan brake cooling and high-temperature fluid for extended track sessions, long mountain descents, or sustained aggressive driving.

FAQ

Will this fit my exact 981 Cayman, or is it a platform kit?

It's engineered for your confirmed trim, not the 981 family as a whole. A GT4 or Spyder carries different front uprights, hub geometry, and wheel clearance than a base, S, or GTS Cayman, so we cut the brackets and set the rotor-hat offsets specifically for the car you confirm at checkout. We do not make a blanket 981 bolt-on claim.

How does this behave in winter or on a cold first drive?

A cold, untuned carbon-ceramic disc bites less than cold iron on the first stops. That's physics, not a fault. We tune both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so cold-car feel now comes very close to warm summer feel. On the coldest first stops of the day, still leave a little extra following distance until the system reaches temperature.

What wheels do I need to clear the 410mm front rotor?

The front rotor is 410mm, so 21-inch wheels are the minimum. Anything under 21 inches will not clear the disc and caliper, and spoke shape matters too, so check inner-spoke clearance around the 6-piston front caliper before ordering.

Will my dashboard pad-wear warning still work?

Yes. The kit includes brake pad wear sensors that are fully compatible with the 981's factory wear-sensor system, so the pad-wear warning keeps functioning with no dashboard errors. It reads and warns exactly as it did with the OEM setup.
