2003-2012 Mercedes-Benz SL350 / SL500 / SL550 / SL600 / SL55 / SL63 / SL65 (R230) CCB Big Brake Kit — Genuine AP Racing CP9560 Radi-CAL II 6-Piston Caliper Front + Genuine AP Racing CP9541 Radi-CAL II 4-Piston Caliper Rear Setup
The R230 SL is heavy, fast, and hard on brakes, especially in AMG V8/V12 form where repeated high-speed stops can overheat iron rotors and fill open wheels with dust. This StopFlex kit pairs 380mm carbon-ceramic rotors with Genuine AP Racing CP9560 Radi-CAL II 6-Piston Calipers in front and CP9541 4-piston Radi-CAL II calipers in rear to add heat capacity, reduce rotating mass, and keep brake balance engineered as a complete system. Each kit is built for the confirmed SL350, SL500, SL550, SL600, SL55, SL63, or SL65 trim rather than assumed from the R230 chassis name.
- 380mm front and rear carbon-ceramic rotors require 19-inch or larger wheels; spoke clearance is checked because R230 AMG and non-AMG wheel offsets are not interchangeable assumptions.
- The front axle uses the exact Genuine AP Racing CP9560 Radi-CAL II 6-Piston Caliper, matched to a 380mm StopFlex carbon-ceramic rotor for repeated high-speed braking on a heavy SL roadster.
- The rear axle uses the Genuine AP Racing CP9541 Radi-CAL II 4-Piston Caliper with a 380mm carbon-ceramic rotor so brake torque and stability are engineered front-to-rear, not added as a front-only conversion.

Every StopFlex kit is bespoke-engineered for your exact model and trim — the brackets, rotor-hat offsets, and caliper mounting are matched to your specific car, not assumed from the platform. This matters because trims that share a chassis name can differ mechanically: a pure M or performance variant often carries different front knuckles/uprights, hub geometry, and wheel axial (ET) clearance than the standard models in the same family, so a bracket and hat offset that bolt onto one are not the same parts that fit the other. StopFlex supplies the calipers, pads, rotor hats, floating hardware, and brake lines as a matched system built to your confirmed trim. Cars with modified knuckles, modified uprights, or non-factory suspension mounting points must be reviewed before ordering and are not treated as direct-fit.
This setup uses a 380 mm front rotor, so the minimum wheel size is 19". Wheels under 19" will not clear the caliper and rotor, and spoke profile and offset affect clearance too — confirm your exact wheels before ordering.

Caliper Overview — Front & Rear Balance
Front Caliper (Primary Upgrade)
The front caliper is the Genuine AP Racing CP9560 Radi-CAL II 6-Piston Caliper, selected to distribute clamping load across the pad face and support a firm, repeatable pedal on the R230 SL’s 380mm front rotor. AP Racing is a dedicated performance-brake manufacturer, and the Radi-CAL II architecture gives this kit a motorsport-derived fixed-caliper foundation rather than a cosmetic caliper swap. StopFlex engineers the brackets, hat offset, and line routing for the buyer’s confirmed SL350, SL500, SL550, SL600, SL55, SL63, or SL65 trim.
Rear Caliper (Balance)
The rear caliper is the Genuine AP Racing CP9541 Radi-CAL II 4-Piston Caliper, paired with a 380mm carbon-ceramic rear rotor to keep rear brake contribution stable under hard stops. The R230 SL uses a foot-operated mechanical parking brake with drum-style parking brake hardware, not an electronic parking brake caliper that must be electronically retained.
Front & rear, engineered together: This kit is engineered as a matched front and rear system, so piston area, rotor diameter, pad selection, and carbon-ceramic thermal behavior are considered together. That matters on the R230 because a front-only upgrade can change brake bias and ABS behavior on a car available in both standard and AMG powertrains.
Make It Yours — Color & Logo Customization
Every StopFlex kit-upgrade order can be finished with custom caliper colors, a custom caliper logo, and custom rotor hat colors, so the brake package matches your exact build instead of a fixed off-the-shelf look.

Why StopFlex CCB
Lower Unsprung Mass
StopFlex carbon-ceramic rotors are engineered to reduce rotor mass versus comparable iron discs, helping the suspension react cleaner and the steering feel more precise.
High-Temperature Stability
The carbon-silicon-carbide matrix is built for stable braking behavior at temperatures that can push iron rotors into heavy fade.
Rust-Free Rotor Surface
Carbon ceramic does not form orange flash rust after rain, washing, or storage, keeping the visible rotor face cleaner behind open wheels.
Long Street-Service Potential
In normal road use with matched pads and proper bedding, StopFlex CCB rotors are designed for far longer service life than typical iron replacement rotors.
Low Visible Dust
When paired with matched StopFlex pads, the system produces very low visible brake dust compared with conventional iron rotor and pad combinations.
Premium Ceramic-Glaze Appearance
StopFlex's proprietary coating creates a bright, high-end ceramic-glaze finish with subtle glaze texture and a more premium visual character behind open wheels.
Street-Usable Cold Bite
Street Spec and Track-Day Spec rotors are designed for normal first-stop road use, including cold-weather operation. Motorsport Spec is the competition-focused exception.
Continuous Fiber Reinforcement
Long-fiber carbon ceramic construction improves structural strength and thermal durability versus chopped-fiber approaches.
Heat Management Note
Carbon ceramic rotors tolerate extreme surface temperature, but they do not remove every heat-management requirement. During repeated hard stops, heat can still soak into pads, fluid, seals, calipers, wheels, and nearby components. For long track sessions, mountain descents, or sustained aggressive driving, brake cooling and high-temperature fluid are still recommended.
Street / Track-Day / Motorsport Rotor Options

Street Spec
Ceramic coating, cross-drilled face, and large cooling channels.
Best for daily driving and premium street builds that need clean cold bite, low dust, corrosion-free appearance, and long service life.

Track-Day Spec
Ceramic coating, blank face, and honeycomb cooling channels.
Best for fast-road and track-day use where repeated braking stability matters more than maximum visual drilling style.

Motorsport Spec
Uncoated blank face with honeycomb cooling channels.
Best for race-focused builds that run competition pads, high-temperature fluid, cooling strategy, and a proper warm-up window. Not the default street choice.

FAQ
Will this fit my exact R230 SL trim?
Fitment is confirmed by exact year, model, trim, current brake package, and wheel setup before production. An SL500, SL600, SL55 AMG, SL63 AMG, and SL65 AMG can differ in brake hardware, hub geometry, and clearance, so StopFlex does not treat the R230 chassis as one universal bracket and hat-offset package.
What wheel size do I need for the 380mm kit?
The 380mm front and rear rotors require 19-inch or larger wheels. Barrel clearance and spoke clearance still need to be checked against the Genuine AP Racing CP9560 front caliper and CP9541 rear caliper before the kit is built.
Does this kit keep the parking brake function?
The R230 SL does not use an electronic parking brake caliper. StopFlex engineers the rear package around the car’s mechanical parking brake layout so parking brake function is addressed during the trim-specific rear fitment process.
Why switch an R230 SL from iron brakes to carbon-ceramic?
Carbon-ceramic rotors reduce brake dust, cut rotating and unsprung mass, and tolerate repeated heat cycles better than conventional iron rotors in aggressive street or track-day use. On a heavy SL roadster, the main reasons are lower dust on large wheels, better heat control, and less front-end mass with the 380mm AP Racing-based package.
