Keep them if the front calipers are fixed 4-piston or more — the rear axle qualifies regardless. Front 1- or 2-piston floating calipers rule out the disc-only route; choose the Full Upgrade kit instead. Every set is machined to the factory rotor specs listed above, and aftermarket calipers (Brembo, AP Racing, Alcon, Wilwood) only need the caliper model, pad shape, and rotor dimensions confirmed before we build.

CCB-Specific Pad Compound
A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.
Lower Unsprung Mass
A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.
Winter & Cold-Weather Braking
Cold facts first: an untuned ceramic disc bites less than iron on a freezing morning — physics, not a defect. StopFlex tuned both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so winter cold-car braking now feels very close to summer. Leave extra margin on the very coldest first stops; severe-climate daily drivers should build Street Spec.

Heat Management Note
High rotor temperature tolerance does not mean heat management disappears. Under repeated hard braking, heat migrates into the pads, brake fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels even when the ceramic disc itself is comfortable. Plan brake cooling and high-temperature fluid for extended track sessions, long mountain descents, or sustained aggressive driving.

The GLA45 came with iron brakes from the factory — will these actually bolt on?
Yes. This is a direct-replacement carbon-ceramic setup engineered for the X156 GLA45's factory calipers. The front 4-piston AMG calipers stay on the car; you swap the 350mm front and 330mm rear iron rotors for our carbon-ceramic discs on matched hats with floating hardware, plus the included pads. No caliper change, no bracket fabrication. Carbon ceramics were never a factory option on this car, so aftermarket is the only way to run them.
How do these behave in winter and cold starts?
Any carbon-ceramic disc bites less than cold iron on the first stops — that's normal physics, not a fault, because the ceramic matrix wants heat to reach full friction. We addressed it two ways: the low-metallic resin-composite pad (steel, copper, aramid fiber, ~0.44 average friction) and the disc's ceramic coating are both tuned for cold engagement, so on the GLA45 the cold-car feel now comes very close to a warm summer stop. Leave a little extra following distance on the coldest first pulls out of the driveway and you'll be fine.
