Fitment here is bespoke: brackets, hat offsets, and caliper mounting are engineered for your exact model and trim rather than copied across the platform. Two trims with the same chassis code can still differ in knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel ET clearance — which is why we confirm your trim first, then build the matched system of calipers, pads, rotor hats, floating hardware, and lines for it. Modified knuckles, uprights, or non-factory suspension points require review before ordering.

Lower Unsprung Mass

A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.

Winter & Cold-Weather Braking

A cold, untuned carbon-ceramic disc needs more pedal than iron on the first winter stops — normal material physics. StopFlex engineered the pad formula and disc coating specifically for cold starts, closing that gap: cold-car winter feel is now very close to summer feel. Keep a little extra distance on the coldest mornings; for harsh winters, choose Street Spec.

Front Caliper

The front caliper is the Brembo OEM Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang 6-Piston Caliper, a factory-homologated monoblock unit clamping a 390mm carbon-ceramic rotor. Six pistons give even pad loading and a firm, repeatable pedal through repeated hard stops.

Rear Caliper

The rear runs the TTSPORT EP4 4-Piston Forged Caliper integrated with EPB on a 380mm rotor. It uses four 28mm hydraulic service pistons plus one dedicated 27mm EPB actuator piston, so your factory electronic parking brake keeps working while you gain real rear-axle thermal capacity from a two-piece forged-aluminum body weighing about 4.50 kg per caliper.

Heat Management Note

Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

Will this kit bolt onto my exact IS trim?

Each kit is engineered for your confirmed trim, not the XE20 platform in general. The IS-F uses different front knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel offset than the IS250 and IS350, so we cut trim-specific brackets and set rotor-hat offsets to match the car you actually have. We confirm your trim before anything ships; we do not sell a one-size platform bolt-on.

What wheels do I need to clear the 390mm front rotor?

The 390mm front rotor and Brembo GT350 6-piston caliper require a minimum 20-inch wheel. Wheels under 20 inches will not clear the rotor and caliper, and spoke geometry matters too, so send us your wheel specs during fitment so we can verify inner clearance before you commit.

How do these carbon-ceramic brakes behave in cold winter driving?

Physics first: an untuned carbon-ceramic disc bites less than iron when it is cold, which is normal and not a fault. We have optimized both the low-metallic resin-composite pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so winter cold-car feel now comes very close to summer feel. On the coldest first stops of the day, leave a little extra following distance until the system warms.

Does this handle repeated hard stops without fading?

That is the point of the upgrade. The 390mm front and 380mm rear carbon-ceramic rotors shed heat far better than the stock steel setup XE20 owners outgrow on track days, and the pad compound runs an average friction coefficient near 0.44 with heat resistance to about 750 degrees C and strong anti-fade behavior. The GT350 6-piston front and EP4 4-piston rear keep clamping consistent stop after stop.
