Every StopFlex kit is bespoke-engineered for your exact model and trim — brackets, rotor-hat offsets, and caliper mounting are matched to your specific car, never assumed from the platform. Trims that share a chassis name can differ mechanically: a pure performance variant often carries different knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel ET clearance than the standard models, so parts that bolt onto one are not the parts that fit the other. Calipers, pads, rotor hats, floating hardware, and brake lines ship as one matched system built to your confirmed trim. Modified knuckles, uprights, or non-factory suspension mounting points must be reviewed before ordering.

The 380 mm rotor sets the minimum wheel size at 19" — smaller wheels will not clear the caliper and rotor. Spoke profile and offset also affect clearance; confirm your exact wheels before ordering.

StopFlex's proprietary coating gives the disc a bright ceramic-glaze surface with subtle texture — the factory carbon-ceramic look, clearly visible through open wheel designs.

Continuous Fiber Construction

StopFlex discs are built with long continuous carbon fiber instead of chopped short fiber. Continuous strands carry load across the whole rotor body, raising strength and thermal durability under heat cycles.

Bespoke Per-Vehicle Engineering

Every order is machined to the confirmed vehicle and trim. Brackets, hat offsets, and pad shapes are built for that exact car — never pulled from a one-size-fits-all catalog.

CCB-Specific Pad Compound

A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.

Lower Unsprung Mass

A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.

High-Temperature Stability

The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.

Rust-Free Rotor Surface

Ceramic discs cannot flash-rust. After rain, a wash, or weeks of parking, the rotor face behind your open-spoke wheels stays clean — no orange ring on a freshly detailed car.

Long Street-Service Life

In normal road use with matched pads and correct bedding, one StopFlex CCB rotor set is engineered to outlast several sets of iron replacement rotors, recovering part of the up-front cost.

Winter & Cold-Weather Braking

Winter question, straight answer: untuned ceramic discs bite less when cold. StopFlex optimized the pad compound and the rotor's ceramic coating for cold operation, so cold-start braking in winter feels very close to warm-weather braking. Extra following distance on freezing first stops is still smart; severe-winter daily cars should run Street Spec.

Front Caliper

The front uses the Brembo OEM Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang 6-piston caliper clamping a 380 mm carbon-ceramic rotor, so pedal response stays firm and repeatable when a heavy IONIQ 5 dumps kinetic energy into the front axle lap after lap.

Rear Caliper

The rear runs a Brembo 4-piston caliper over a 355 mm rotor, and you choose among three options: V4 (Brembo OEM Cadillac CTS-V), GT4 (Brembo GT | M4), or GTS4 (Brembo GT | S4). This adds rear thermal capacity and is matched to your car's electronic parking brake.

Heat Management Note

Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

FAQ

Will these brakes feel weak on a cold winter morning?

A cold carbon-ceramic disc naturally bites a little less than cold iron on the first stop — that's physics, not a fault. We tuned both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating specifically for cold starts, so on a cold IONIQ 5 the first-mile feel now comes very close to summer feel. Leave a little extra following distance on the coldest opening stops and the system is up to temperature quickly.

Does this fit my exact IONIQ 5, including the IONIQ 5 N?

We build each kit to your confirmed trim. The IONIQ 5 N uses different knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel clearance than a standard IONIQ 5, so the brackets, rotor-hat offsets, and caliper mounting are cut for the car you actually own. We do not sell this as a platform-wide bolt-on. Confirm your trim and wheel details and we spec the correct hardware.

Will this clear my wheels?

The front rotor is 380 mm, so 19-inch wheels are the minimum — anything smaller will not clear the rotor. Spoke shape matters too, not just diameter, so a 19-inch wheel with tight inner spokes can still interfere. Send us your wheel make, size, and offset and we'll verify caliper and rotor clearance before you buy.

Does the rear caliper keep my electronic parking brake?

Yes. The IONIQ 5 uses a factory electronic parking brake, so the rear Brembo 4-piston caliper you select — V4, GT4, or GTS4 on the 355 mm rotor — is set up to retain full EPB function. You keep auto-hold and normal parking operation with no dashboard faults.
