Will This Fit My Car?
Full Upgrade CCB Big Brake Kits (With Calipers) for the 2007-2013 BMW X5 / X5 M (E70). This page's exact brake setup:
| Model Years | Front Setup | Rear Setup | Min. Wheel Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007-2013 | Akebono OEM Audi RS 10-Piston (10N) Caliper / 420mm | Brembo OEM Porsche 19Z 4-Piston Caliper / 380mm | 21" |
Fitment here is bespoke: brackets, hat offsets, and caliper mounting are engineered for your exact model and trim rather than copied across the platform. Two trims with the same chassis code can still differ in knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel ET clearance — which is why we confirm your trim first, then build the matched system of calipers, pads, rotor hats, floating hardware, and lines for it. Modified knuckles, uprights, or non-factory suspension points require review before ordering.
The 420 mm rotor sets the minimum wheel size at 21" — smaller wheels will not clear the caliper and rotor. Spoke profile and offset also affect clearance; confirm your exact wheels before ordering.
| Wheel Size (Standard) | Disc Range |
|---|---|
| 15" | 260 mm – 285 mm |
| 16" | 285 mm – 300 mm |
| 17" | 300 mm – 330 mm |
| 18" | 330 mm – 355 mm |
| 19" | 355 mm – 380 mm |
| 20" | 380 mm – 400 mm |
| 21" | 400 mm – 420 mm |

Why Carbon Ceramic — and Why StopFlex
Premium Ceramic-Glaze Finish
StopFlex's proprietary coating gives the disc a bright ceramic-glaze surface with subtle texture — the factory carbon-ceramic look, clearly visible through open wheel designs.
Continuous Fiber Construction
StopFlex discs are built with long continuous carbon fiber instead of chopped short fiber. Continuous strands carry load across the whole rotor body, raising strength and thermal durability under heat cycles.
Bespoke Per-Vehicle Engineering
Every order is machined to the confirmed vehicle and trim. Brackets, hat offsets, and pad shapes are built for that exact car — never pulled from a one-size-fits-all catalog.
CCB-Specific Pad Compound
A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.
Lower Unsprung Mass
A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.
High-Temperature Stability
The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.
Rust-Free Rotor Surface
Ceramic discs cannot flash-rust. After rain, a wash, or weeks of parking, the rotor face behind your open-spoke wheels stays clean — no orange ring on a freshly detailed car.
Long Street-Service Life
In normal road use with matched pads and correct bedding, one StopFlex CCB rotor set is engineered to outlast several sets of iron replacement rotors, recovering part of the up-front cost.
Low Visible Dust
Matched with StopFlex pads, the system sheds a fraction of the dust an iron rotor and pad combination throws. Wheels stay clean for weeks of driving instead of days.
Winter & Cold-Weather Braking
Winter question, straight answer: untuned ceramic discs bite less when cold. StopFlex optimized the pad compound and the rotor's ceramic coating for cold operation, so cold-start braking in winter feels very close to warm-weather braking. Extra following distance on freezing first stops is still smart; severe-winter daily cars should run Street Spec.
Caliper Overview
Front Caliper
The front uses an Akebono OEM Audi RS 10-Piston (10N) Caliper clamping a 420mm carbon-ceramic rotor. Ten pistons spread pad pressure evenly across a long pad, so pedal feel stays consistent when you're hauling this ~5,000 lb truck down from speed or bringing a loaded X5 to a stop.
Rear Caliper
The rear runs a Brembo OEM Porsche 19Z 4-Piston Caliper on a 380mm carbon-ceramic rotor, adding real rear thermal capacity for repeated stops and towing loads. Bracketry and hat offset are cut specifically for your confirmed E70 trim.
Choose Your Rotor: Street, Track-Day, or Motorsport

Street Spec
Ceramic coating, cross-drilled face, and large cooling channels.
Best for daily driving and premium street builds that need clean cold bite, low dust, corrosion-free appearance, and long service life.

Track-Day Spec
Ceramic coating, blank face, and honeycomb cooling channels.
Best for fast-road and track-day use where repeated braking stability matters more than maximum visual drilling style.

Motorsport Spec
Uncoated blank face with honeycomb cooling channels.
Best for race-focused builds that run competition pads, high-temperature fluid, cooling strategy, and a proper warm-up window. Not the default street choice.
Heat Management Note
Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

FAQ
Will these brakes work in winter and cold weather?
Yes. It's normal physics that a cold carbon-ceramic disc bites a little less than cold iron on the first stop, but StopFlex tunes both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so cold-car feel on your E70 now comes very close to warm summer feel. On the coldest first few stops, leave a little extra following distance and the brakes come fully up to temperature quickly after that.
Does this kit actually fit my exact X5 or X5 M?
Each kit is engineered for your confirmed trim, not the E70 platform generally. A pure M variant can use different front knuckles, hub geometry, and wheel ET clearance than a standard X5, so we cut the brackets, caliper mounts, and rotor-hat offsets to match the trim you confirm at checkout. We do not make a universal bolt-on claim across the whole chassis.
What wheels do I need to clear the 420mm front rotor?
The 420mm front carbon-ceramic rotor with the Akebono 10-piston caliper requires a minimum 21-inch wheel. Anything under 21 inches will not clear it, and spoke shape matters too—some 21s with deep-dish or barrel-heavy spokes can still foul the caliper. Send us your wheel details and we'll confirm clearance before you buy.
Why go carbon-ceramic on a heavy tuned X5 instead of bigger iron?
An E70 that's been tuned to strong power and torque and used for towing puts a lot of energy into the brakes, and iron fades as it heats. Carbon-ceramic rotors hold their bite through repeated hard stops, and the StopFlex pad runs a low-metallic resin compound with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, an average friction coefficient around 0.44, and heat resistance to about 750 °C with strong anti-fade behavior. You also drop a lot of unsprung and rotating mass over iron.
