The rule is simple: front factory calipers must be 4-piston or more; the rear has no limit. A 1- or 2-piston floating front setup cannot take direct-replacement discs — that car needs the Full Upgrade kit with calipers. We build to the factory rotor specs above. CCB-Specific Pad Compound
A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.
Lower Unsprung Mass
A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.
High-Temperature Stability
The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.

Heat Management Note
Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

How do these carbon-ceramic rotors behave in winter on a cold car?
Physics first: any cold carbon-ceramic disc bites a little less than cold iron on the first stops. That is normal, not a defect. We addressed it two ways on this kit for the F97: the low-metallic resin-composite pad compound and the disc ceramic coating are both tuned for cold engagement, so cold-car feel on an S58 X3 M now comes very close to summer feel. On the coldest first stops of the day, leave a little extra following distance until the front discs come up to temperature.
Do I need to change my calipers or wheels?
No caliper change. This kit bolts the carbon-ceramic discs, hats, and floating hardware to your factory F97 4-piston front and rear calipers, so the OEM hydraulic and brake-line setup stays put. The 395mm front and 370mm rear rotors keep the same package size as stock, so any wheel that cleared your factory M brakes clears this kit. The electronic parking brake works exactly as it did before.
Why go carbon-ceramic on a heavy SUV like the X3 M?
