Keep Your Factory Calipers?

The rule is simple: front factory calipers must be 4-piston or more; the rear has no limit. A 1- or 2-piston floating front setup cannot take direct-replacement discs — that car needs the Full Upgrade kit with calipers. We build to the factory rotor specs above. Aftermarket calipers (Brembo, AP Racing, Alcon, Wilwood) work too — send the caliper model, pad shape, and rotor size for confirmation first.

Spoke profile and offset also affect clearance — confirm your exact wheels before ordering.

A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.

Lower Unsprung Mass

A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.

High-Temperature Stability

The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.

Rust-Free Rotor Surface

Ceramic discs cannot flash-rust. After rain, a wash, or weeks of parking, the rotor face behind your open-spoke wheels stays clean — no orange ring on a freshly detailed car.

Winter & Cold-Weather Braking

A cold, untuned carbon-ceramic disc needs more pedal than iron on the first winter stops — normal material physics. StopFlex engineered the pad formula and disc coating specifically for cold starts, closing that gap: cold-car winter feel is now very close to summer feel. Heat Management Note

High rotor temperature tolerance does not mean heat management disappears. Under repeated hard braking, heat migrates into the pads, brake fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels even when the ceramic disc itself is comfortable. Plan brake cooling and high-temperature fluid for extended track sessions, long mountain descents, or sustained aggressive driving.

FAQ

Does this fit both the base M2 and the M2 Competition/CS?

Yes, but the kit ships matched to your exact trim because factory rotor sizes differ. The base M2 uses 380mm front and 370mm rear rotors; the Competition and CS use 400mm front and 380mm rear. Tell us your trim at checkout so we send the correct discs, hats, and hardware. This is a direct replacement that reuses your factory F87 calipers, so front caliper piston count matters: the M2/Competition front calipers are 4-piston, which qualifies.

How does cold-weather braking feel on a carbon-ceramic disc in winter?

Untuned carbon-ceramic discs bite less than cold iron on the first stops of a cold morning. That is physics, not a defect. We addressed it by tuning both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so cold-car feel on your M2 now comes very close to warm-summer feel. On the coldest first stops we still recommend a little extra following distance until the front rotors are up to temperature.

Will these clear my factory or aftermarket wheels?

The rotors match your factory diameters exactly, 380mm or 400mm front depending on trim, so any wheel that cleared your OEM setup clears these. If you run aftermarket wheels, confirm they were sized for the corresponding M2 or Competition brake package before ordering, since the larger 400mm Competition front rotor needs more caliper-window clearance than the 380mm base front.

What am I actually gaining over stock iron rotors?

Lower unsprung and rotating mass at each corner, and far better resistance to fade under repeated hard stops, which is the main reason F87 owners bring these to HPDE and time-trial days. The pads are a carbon-ceramic-specific low-metallic resin composite with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, averaging about 0.44 coefficient of friction and holding up to roughly 750 degrees C with strong anti-fade behavior. You also get much less brake dust on the wheels.
