A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.
High-Temperature Stability
The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.
Winter & Cold-Weather Braking
Cold facts first: an untuned ceramic disc bites less than iron on a freezing morning — physics, not a defect. Heat Management Note
Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

Yes. This is a Direct Replacement kit: it reuses your existing S8 calipers and supplies new carbon-ceramic discs, hats, floating hardware, and pads. It is only valid when the front factory calipers are 4-piston or larger, which the S8's front brakes are on both the 400mm and 420mm setups. The rear is unrestricted. Because you keep the calipers, there's no brake-line rerouting and the electronic parking brake continues to operate on the rear as designed.
How does this kit behave in winter and on cold first stops?
Any carbon-ceramic disc bites a little less than cold iron on the first stops of a freezing morning—that's normal physics, not a fault, because the ceramic matrix needs a small amount of heat to reach its working range. We tuned both the pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating specifically for cold starts, so cold-car feel on the S8 now comes very close to warm summer feel. Even so, leave a bit of extra following distance on your first one or two stops when it's genuinely cold, then the brakes are fully awake.
