CCB-Specific Pad Compound
A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.
Lower Unsprung Mass
A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.
High-Temperature Stability
The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix keeps working at temperatures that push iron rotors into heavy fade, so the tenth hard stop feels like the first — same pedal travel, same bite point.
Winter & Cold-Weather Braking
Winter question, straight answer: untuned ceramic discs bite less when cold. StopFlex optimized the pad compound and the rotor's ceramic coating for cold operation, so cold-start braking in winter feels very close to warm-weather braking. Extra following distance on freezing first stops is still smart; severe-winter daily cars should run Street Spec.

Heat Management Note
Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

How does this brake in cold weather during the winter?
An untuned carbon-ceramic disc bites less than cold iron on the first stops of a cold morning — that's basic physics, not a fault. We addressed it two ways: the pad is a carbon-ceramic-specific low-metallic resin compound (steel, copper, aramid fiber, average friction around 0.44) chosen for early bite, and the disc's ceramic coating is tuned for cold starts. The result is cold-car feel very close to summer feel. On the coldest first stops, leave a little extra following distance until everything is up to temperature.
Why replace with carbon ceramic instead of iron on an aging RS Q3?
The 8U RS Q3 is a heavy compact SUV that loads its front brakes hard, and carbon-ceramic rotors cut a large amount of unsprung and rotating mass off each corner versus the factory iron discs. That helps steering response and ride on a car that already runs firm. You also get far better fade resistance on repeated stops and mountain descents, and the discs shed the brake dust that coats RS Q3 wheels. The pad handles up to about 750°C with strong anti-fade behavior.
Is this compatible with the electronic parking brake?
Yes. The rear 310mm setup reuses your factory rear calipers, so whatever parking-brake mechanism your RS Q3 came with continues to operate through the original caliper. Nothing about the parking-brake function changes with this kit — you're only swapping the disc, pad, hat, and hardware while keeping the calipers in place.
