Front Caliper
The front runs the Akebono OEM Audi RS 6-Piston (9N) caliper, the same fixed monobloc Audi specs on its RS models. Six opposed pistons clamp a 400mm carbon-ceramic rotor with even pad loading, so pedal feel stays consistent as the front axle heats up during repeated stops.
Rear Caliper
The rear uses the TTSPORT EP4 4-Piston Forged Caliper, a two-piece forged-aluminum body with four 28mm hydraulic service pistons plus a dedicated 27mm EPB actuator piston. That extra actuator preserves your factory electronic parking brake while the caliper adds real rear-axle thermal capacity on a 380mm rotor; each caliper weighs about 4.50 kg without pads.

Heat Management Note
Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

How does this kit behave in winter and cold starts?
A cold carbon-ceramic disc naturally bites less than cold iron on the very first stops. That is physics, not a fault. We tune both the low-metallic resin-composite pad and the disc's ceramic coating for cold starts, so on your 8R the first winter stops feel close to summer. Still, leave a little extra following distance on the coldest first pulls until the front 400mm rotors warm.
Will this fit my exact Q5 or SQ5 trim?
Every kit is engineered for your confirmed trim, not the 8R platform in general. The SQ5 uses different front knuckle and hub geometry than the standard Q5, so brackets, rotor-hat offsets, and caliper mounting are cut for your specific car. We do not make a universal bolt-on claim; we build brackets to match after you confirm year, trim, and wheel details.
What wheel size do I need to clear these brakes?
The front rotor is 400mm, so you need 20-inch wheels or larger. Anything under 20 inches will not clear the front caliper and rotor. Spoke shape and inner barrel clearance also matter, so send your wheel specs and we will confirm before you order.
Does the rear kit keep my factory electronic parking brake?
Yes. Your 8R Q5/SQ5 uses a factory electronic parking brake, and the TTSPORT EP4 rear caliper includes a dedicated EPB actuator piston. You keep the OE electronic parking-brake function and gain rear thermal capacity on a 380mm rotor at the same time.
