CCB-Specific Pad Compound

A low-metallic resin pad compound reinforced with steel, copper, and aramid fiber, made for ceramic discs: stable to about 750 °C, roughly 0.44 average friction, strong fade resistance, low rotor wear.

Lower Unsprung Mass

A carbon-ceramic rotor weighs roughly half of the equivalent iron disc. Less rotating, unsprung mass lets the suspension follow broken pavement more cleanly and makes steering response noticeably sharper.

Front Caliper

The front caliper is the Akebono OEM Audi RS 6-Piston (9N) caliper, a factory-engineered monobloc used on Audi RS models. Its six pistons give the heavy D3 S8 even pad loading and a firm, repeatable pedal on the 400mm carbon-ceramic front rotor.

Rear Caliper

The rear runs the TTSPORT EP4 4-Piston Forged Caliper with integrated EPB on a 380mm rotor. It uses four 28mm hydraulic service pistons plus one 27mm dedicated actuator piston that keeps the D3's factory electronic parking brake working, so you gain real rear-axle thermal capacity without losing OE parking-brake function. The forged-aluminum body weighs about 4.50 kg per caliper without pads.

Heat Management Note

Ceramic discs shrug off surface temperatures that would destroy iron, but the rest of the system still heats up: pads, fluid, seals, calipers, and wheels all absorb soak heat during repeated hard stops. For track days, long descents, and sustained hard driving, run brake cooling and high-temperature fluid.

FAQ

How does this kit behave in winter and cold starts?

Physics is honest here: any cold carbon-ceramic disc bites a little less than cold iron on the first stops, which is normal and not a defect. StopFlex tunes both the low-metallic resin-composite pad compound and the disc's ceramic coating for cold engagement, so on a cold D3 S8 the first-stop feel now comes very close to warm summer feel. On the coldest mornings, leave a little extra following distance for the first one or two stops and the system comes up to normal quickly.

Will this fit my exact S8 trim, or is it a generic D3 kit?

Every kit is bespoke-engineered for your confirmed S8 (D3). We match the brackets, rotor-hat offsets, and caliper mounting to your specific car's front knuckles and hub geometry. We do not make a platform-wide bolt-on claim, because trims sharing a chassis can differ in upright and wheel ET clearance. Confirm your VIN and trim and we build the fitment to that car.

What wheels do I need to clear the 400mm front rotor?

The 400mm front rotor with the Akebono 9N six-piston caliper requires a minimum 20-inch wheel; anything smaller will not clear it. Spoke design also matters, not just diameter, so send us your wheel make and model and we'll verify caliper and spoke clearance before you buy.

Does the rear kit keep my electronic parking brake?

Yes. The D3 S8 uses a factory electronic parking brake, and the TTSPORT EP4 rear caliper includes a dedicated EPB actuator piston alongside its four hydraulic service pistons. That preserves your OE electronic parking-brake function on the 380mm rear rotor while adding rear-axle thermal capacity.
