ポルシェ911 (991) カーボンセラミックブレーキアップグレード

Porsche 911 991 fitted with STOPFLEX 410mm front carbon ceramic rotors and OEM GT3 six-piston calipers.

Why This 991 Got the GT3-Caliper Conversion

A 991 on a mountain road or a track day loads its brakes in a way street driving never does — repeated hard stops, close together, with the rotor never fully cooling between them. The factory brake package on most non-GT trims is a good street compromise, but it isn't engineered for that cycle. When owners come to us wanting GT3-level braking without swapping the whole car, this is the build we point them toward: OEM 991 GT3 six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, matched to a purpose-built carbon ceramic rotor rather than the iron disc those calipers were designed around.

Porsche built the GT3 caliper package specifically to handle that repeated-load cycle at a factory level of scrutiny, which is documented in Porsche's official GT3 technical material. Pulling that same caliper hardware onto a standard 991 only pays off if the rotor behind it can hold up its end of the deal — which is the whole reason this is a rotor conversion, not just a caliper swap.

うまくいっていなかった点

  • Standard-trim rotor and caliper hardware falls short of what a GT3-spec brake package delivers under repeated hard use.
  • Iron rotor mass at each corner works against the 991's steering response on quick direction changes.
  • Confidence dropped off after several closely spaced hard stops rather than holding steady.
  • An iron rotor face rusting behind open GT3 wheel spokes wasn't the look the build called for.

オーナーが代わりに求めるもの

  • Factory Porsche 991 GT3 six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.
  • A carbon ceramic rotor built to that exact caliper geometry, not a generic big-brake adapter.
  • Lower rotating and unsprung mass at all four corners.
  • A brake system that behaves the same on stop ten as it did on stop one.
  • Hardware that still works as a daily-driven street setup, not a trailer-queen track piece.

Fitment warning: the GT3 calipers here are the car's own factory hardware, carried over into this conversion — they are not something we manufacture. Rotor diameter alone doesn't confirm compatibility; caliper position, hat offset and wheel spoke clearance around a 410mm front disc all have to check out first.

Why Carbon Ceramic Brakes Fit This GT3-Caliper Build

Bolting factory GT3 calipers onto a standard 991 only solves half the problem. The rotor behind them still has to handle the heat cycle those calipers are built for, which is exactly where an iron disc starts to give ground. Carbon ceramic brakes change that side of the equation without changing anything about the caliper Porsche already engineered.

STOPFLEXの特長 Why it matters on this 991 体感できる違い
バネ下重量の低減 A STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotor runs roughly half the weight of the iron disc these GT3 calipers normally clamp. Quicker direction changes feel less like the wheel is fighting its own rotor mass.
高温安定性 The carbon-silicon-carbide friction matrix holds around 0.3μ surface friction at 900°C, well past where an iron rotor starts to fade. Stop ten down a descent feels like stop one instead of a slowly lengthening pedal.
連続繊維構造 Long continuous carbon fiber, rather than chopped short fiber, carries load through the whole rotor body across repeated heat cycles. The rotor is engineered to hold its structure through the exact abuse a GT3-caliper build invites.
車両ごとの専用開発 The rotor is machined to this exact 991 and its factory GT3 caliper geometry, not pulled from a generic catalog. The pad sits square on the friction ring instead of relying on a compromise adapter.
CCB専用パッドコンパウンド A low-metallic pad compound built for ceramic discs, stable to about 750°C, is what actually keeps the pedal consistent under this caliper's clamping force. Bite feels the same on the last hard stop as it did on the first.

向上する点

  • Less rotating and unsprung mass at each corner.
  • More stable rotor behavior when several hard stops come close together.
  • No flash-rust film developing on the rotor face after rain or a wash.
  • A rotor built specifically around the factory GT3 caliper geometry already on the car.

最初に確認すべきこと

  • Current front and rear caliper part numbers.
  • Wheel diameter and spoke profile for barrel clearance around the 410mm front disc.
  • Whether the car is street-driven, track-day driven, or both.
  • CCB-compatible pad compound for the final pairing.

Carbon ceramic rotors cost more upfront than an iron replacement disc, so the number worth comparing isn't the invoice — it's total service life; our carbon ceramic brakes price and cost guide breaks that comparison down. If your 991's GT3 calipers aren't a perfect match to what's shown here, send us the details and we'll confirm fitment before you order through our Porsche carbon ceramic brake collection.

Fitment & Installation on a GT3-Caliper 991

The first thing we ask for on a build like this isn't a photo of the wheel — it's a photo of the knuckle and the caliper mounting face. That's where a generic "410mm big brake kit" falls apart on a real car: the bracket has to match this exact steering knuckle so the caliper lands in the correct radial and lateral position with no cutting, drilling, or improvised spacer.

Hat offset is the detail a lot of shops skip past, and it's the one that actually decides whether this works. Move the friction ring even a few millimeters off the factory position and pad contact goes uneven under a caliper this stiff — you don't get a warning light, you get a rotor that wears wrong six months later. We'd rather turn a fitment quote down than ship a bracket we haven't matched to the knuckle in front of us.

The install itself follows a disciplined sequence: the old hardware comes off, the STOPFLEX rotor and bracket assembly goes on, the GT3 caliper is repositioned and torqued to spec, and clearance and rotor rotation get checked before the wheel goes back on. Bedding is done progressively afterward so the CCB-specific pad lays down an even transfer layer instead of glazing one spot.

  • Vehicle model and 991 chassis identification.
  • Current trim and factory brake package.
  • Wheel diameter and spoke profile, with photos.
  • Existing front and rear caliper identification.
  • Front, rear, or full axle scope.
  • How the car is actually driven — street, mountain roads, track days, or a mix.

First-drive guidance: build heat progressively on the first outing rather than going straight into repeated maximum-effort stops. After a genuinely hot stop, don't sit stationary holding heavy pedal pressure — that's exactly the moment a fresh transfer layer can get disturbed unevenly.

アップグレード後に変わる点

We don't publish an instrumented before-and-after for this build, and you should be skeptical of anyone who quotes exact stopping-distance numbers for a 991 without a test sheet to back it up. What actually changes is the system's behavior under repeated load — which is the problem this conversion was built to solve in the first place.

状況 Factory rotor + GT3 calipers STOPFLEX carbon ceramic + GT3 calipers
Several hard stops close together Iron rotor temperature climbs and pedal feel can start to lengthen as heat builds. The carbon ceramic rotor is built to hold its friction characteristics further up the heat curve before pedal feel starts to shift.
Quick direction changes Full iron rotor mass adds to what the suspension has to control at each corner. Roughly half the rotor mass means less inertia for the suspension to manage.
After rain or a wash Iron rotor face can develop a visible orange flash-rust film while parked. Carbon ceramic surface doesn't flash-rust, so the rotor face stays clean behind the wheel.
Long-term street ownership Iron rotors are a conventional wear item, replaced on a normal service cycle. Correctly paired STOPFLEX CCB rotors are engineered for roughly 250,000 to 300,000 km of street service.

What we're not going to claim: a shorter emergency stopping distance on the same tires. Once ABS and tire grip are the limiting factor, rotor material doesn't rewrite that number. The honest case for this build is heat consistency, lower rotating mass, and a rotor face that stays clean — not a stopwatch figure nobody actually measured.

Porsche 991 Carbon Ceramic Brake FAQ

Will STOPFLEX 410mm and 390mm carbon ceramic rotors fit my Porsche 991 with GT3 calipers?

Fitment depends on your specific 991 variant, current calipers, wheel diameter and spoke profile. STOPFLEX confirms the steering-knuckle interface, rotor hat offset and wheel clearance before any kit is machined.

Can I run Porsche 991 GT3 calipers with aftermarket carbon ceramic rotors?

Yes. This build uses the factory 991 GT3 six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers paired with STOPFLEX 410mm front and 390mm rear carbon ceramic rotors machined to match that caliper geometry.

Will the pedal go long after several hard stops with carbon ceramic brakes?

Carbon ceramic material resists the heat-driven fade that pushes iron rotors toward a long pedal, but the pad compound, brake fluid and cooling still have to hold up their end. A matched CCB pad is what keeps the pedal consistent stop after stop.

How long do STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotors last on a street-driven 911?

Used with the correct pad pairing and kept out of sustained track duty, STOPFLEX street-spec CCB rotors are engineered for roughly 250,000 to 300,000 km of service. Track use shortens that interval considerably.

Do I need special pads for a STOPFLEX carbon ceramic and GT3 caliper conversion?

Yes. A pad built for an iron rotor will not transfer or bed correctly on a carbon ceramic surface. STOPFLEX pairs the disc with a CCB-specific compound rated for the heat range this caliper and rotor combination sees.
