This is a full conversion, not a bolt-on rotor. The factory R runs floating calipers, so the kit includes fixed multi-piston calipers front and rear. The 380mm package is sized for 19-inch wheels — if you need to keep 18-inch winter wheels, talk to us about a smaller rotor setup first.

Do carbon ceramic brakes work in wet, everyday Golf R Estate driving?

Yes. STOPFLEX C/SiC rotors are built for normal cold and wet-road use, not just track work. They don't form a rust film after rain or a wash, so the pedal feels the same on a damp Monday commute as it does on a dry weekend run.

Will this 380mm kit clear my 18-inch winter wheels?

Usually not. A 380mm rotor with a fixed multi-piston caliper is designed around 19-inch wheel clearance. If running 18-inch winter wheels matters to you, ask us about a smaller rotor configuration before you order.

Do I have to change the factory calipers for this conversion?

Yes. The MK8 Golf R runs floating calipers from the factory. This full carbon ceramic conversion is matched with fixed multi-piston calipers as part of the kit, so the calipers change along with the rotors.

Does the electronic parking brake still work after the upgrade?

Yes. The rear package is built around an EPB-compatible solution, so the factory electronic parking brake keeps working normally after the conversion.

Do STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotors need bedding in?

Yes. The system needs a proper thermal bedding procedure so the pad lays down an even transfer layer on the rotor. That step is what gives you stable friction and a smooth, predictable pedal afterward.

Are carbon ceramic brakes noisy around town?

With STOPFLEX street pads and correct bedding, day-to-day noise stays well controlled. Pad choice and setup matter far more here than the rotor material on its own.
