Confirm before you order

A 20-inch wheel does not guarantee clearance on its own. This 405 mm rotor and the fixed Alcon RC6 caliper need real spoke and barrel clearance, and that varies by wheel design. Verify your exact wheel against a fitment template before buying.

What you actually get on a Velar

STOPFLEX feature Why it matters on the Velar What you notice
Carbon ceramic rotor, no rust The Velar is a design-first SUV, and factory iron rotors flash-rust fast after rain or a wash. That orange ring sits right behind open spokes. Rotor faces stay clean and dark behind the wheel, even after wet weather.
Very low dust with STOPFLEX pads Big wheels show every bit of iron-pad grime, and the Velar's finishes are a pain to keep clean. Wheels stay cleaner far longer between washes.
Rotor about half the weight of steel Brake mass sits at the corner, the worst place for unsprung weight on a ride-focused luxury SUV. A lighter feel at the wheel that suits how the Velar is meant to ride.
Fixed Alcon RC6 caliper The factory floating caliper clamps from one side; a fixed caliper loads the pad more evenly. A firmer, more consistent pedal than the stock front setup.
Long-fiber CCB construction, friction over 0.4μ with STOPFLEX pads Daily driving needs honest bite from the first stop, not just heat capacity for track use. Firm, predictable response on the first cold stop of the day.
Normal cold braking near -20°C Carbon ceramic has a reputation for needing heat; this setup doesn't behave that way on the street. Normal first-stop braking in cold weather, not a vague initial pedal.

What gets better

  • Clean rotor faces with no rust staining after rain or washing.
  • Much lower wheel dust when paired with STOPFLEX pads.
  • Less unsprung weight at the front corners.
  • Firmer, more even pedal from the fixed Alcon RC6 caliper.
  • A bigger, more deliberate brake look behind 20-inch wheels.
  • Long street life, roughly 250,000 to 300,000 km off the track.

What to confirm first

  • This is a front-axle upgrade, so plan the rear brakes accordingly.
  • Spoke and barrel clearance for your exact 20-inch wheel design.
  • Run STOPFLEX pads to get the low-dust and friction behavior described.
  • Confirm your Velar's year and trim match the build shown here.

If you're not sure your wheels and trim line up with the spec shown here, send us your details and we'll confirm Range Rover Velar fitment before you order through our Land Rover CCB collection.

Range Rover Velar carbon ceramic brake FAQ

Is carbon ceramic overkill for a Velar that never sees a track?

No. Most Velar owners pick this for daily reasons, not lap times: far less brake dust on the wheels, no rusty rotor faces after rain or a wash, and a lighter brake package at the corners. Track capability is a bonus, not the point.

Will this 405 mm setup fit any 20-inch wheel on a Velar?

Don't assume it does based on diameter alone. The kit is built for 20-inch applications, but spoke shape and barrel clearance vary by wheel design. Send your exact wheel details or use a fitment template before you order.

What changes versus the factory Velar front brakes?

It's a full front conversion, not just a rotor swap. The factory floating front caliper is replaced with a fixed Alcon RC6 caliper and a 405 mm STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotor.

Do STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotors rust or throw heavy dust?

No rust, even after rain or a wash. And with STOPFLEX pads, wheel dust is very low compared with a typical iron brake setup, so the wheels stay cleaner between washes.

How long do STOPFLEX carbon ceramic rotors last on the street?

On a street-driven Velar that stays off the track, service life can reach roughly 250,000 to 300,000 km. Real-world mileage depends on how you drive, how the car is used, and maintenance.
