Choose the Right CCB Pad First
StopFlex Ceramic Brake Pad for CCB Rotor is a carbon-ceramic-specific pad line. This page combines two compounds: 03 Street and 05+ Race. Start with your real use case, then confirm pad shape by vehicle or caliper application.
03 Street
03 is the street-focused compound for carbon ceramic rotor systems. It is the closer choice when the car still sees normal road use and you want stronger low-temperature response, clean pedal build-up, and controlled modulation.
Best fit
- Primary use: Street driving and fast road use
- Rotor type: Carbon ceramic only
- Compound type: Low-metallic resin
- Avg. friction coefficient: 0.44 μ
- Temperature resistance: 750°C (1382°F)
What it prioritizes
- Low-temp response: Better suited to road temperatures and short brake events
- Pedal modulation: Strong control and easier fine adjustment
- Street balance: Better daily drivability than a race-biased compound
- CCB compatibility: Built for carbon ceramic rotor surfaces, not steel discs
- Trade-off: Not the first choice for long race stints or endurance heat cycles
05+ Race
05+ is the race-focused compound for carbon ceramic rotor systems. It is aimed at longer high-heat use, more stable wear behavior, and applications where track consistency matters more than daily street refinement.
Best fit
- Primary use: Race and endurance-style use
- Rotor type: Carbon ceramic only
- Compound type: Low-metallic resin
- Avg. friction coefficient: 0.43 μ
- Temperature resistance: 700°C (1292°F)
What it prioritizes
- Heat-cycle stability: Better aligned with longer sessions
- Rotor care: Stronger bias toward disc protection and stable wear
- Pad life: Better fit for endurance-oriented use
- Track bias: More suitable for competition use than daily commuting
- Trade-off: Less street-friendly in cold bite, comfort, and general road manners
Why This Pad Is CCB-Only
Carbon ceramic rotors do not behave like cast iron or steel rotors. The rotor material, surface condition, transfer layer behavior, and wear pattern are different. Because of that, the pad formula also has to be different.
What that means
- Different friction surface: A CCB rotor is not a steel rotor with a different color.
- Different wear behavior: Carbon ceramic systems wear differently and need the pad compound to match that surface correctly.
- System pairing matters: The pad is designed as part of a matched CCB rotor-and-pad system.
Why you should not use it on steel discs
- Wrong material match: The friction pair is engineered around carbon ceramic rotor behavior, not cast iron.
- Wrong brake feel target: Pedal response and transfer behavior will not be calibrated for steel discs.
- Wrong wear outcome: Pad wear and disc wear may not follow the intended pattern.
- Bottom line: If the car runs steel rotors, use a steel-rotor pad formula instead.
CCB pads are developed to pair with carbon ceramic discs and the specific vehicle application. They are not universal across rotor materials.
