Porsche 911 Carrera S (992) Carbon Ceramic Brake Upgrade

In the world of high-performance sports cars, braking performance often defines the driving experience. This modified Porsche 911 Carrera S (992) is a powerhouse, tuned to deliver over 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque.

While its acceleration is extraordinary, the braking experience at high speeds was less confidence-inspiring. During emergency stops or sustained hard braking, the driver reported a "gliding" sensation—a lack of initial bite and pedal firmness that compromised safety and control. To solve this, a bespoke, high-capacity braking solution was required.

The Bespoke "Hyper-Car" Upgrade

To match the 600+ hp output, the owner commissioned a custom Big Brake Kit (BBK) that pairs the immense clamping force of Akebono 10-piston calipers with our largest carbon-ceramic rotors, fitting within the 20-inch wheels.

  • Vehicle: Porsche 911 Carrera S (992)
  • Front Calipers: Akebono 10-Piston Fixed Calipers
  • Front Rotors: STOPFLEX 420mm (16.5 in) Carbon-Ceramic Discs
  • Rear Calipers: Brembo 4-Piston Fixed Calipers
  • Rear Rotors: STOPFLEX 410mm (16.1 in) Carbon-Ceramic Discs
  • Brake Pads: STOPFLEX High-Performance Ceramic Pads
  • Accessories: Custom mounting bolts and hardware

Important: System Compatibility

This case study features a bespoke Big Brake Kit (BBK) conversion using aftermarket fixed multi-piston calipers (Akebono & Brembo). Our STOPFLEX carbon-ceramic rotors are engineered for this specific type of high-performance setup.

Please note: These rotors cannot be directly installed with factory floating calipers. A fixed caliper setup is required to utilize these high-performance discs.

Why This Bespoke System Solves the Problem

  • Eliminating the "Gliding" Effect: The massive 10-piston front calipers provide immense, evenly distributed pressure across the 420mm (16.5 in) rotor face. This results in immediate bite and a rock-solid pedal feel, eliminating the unnerving sensation of the brakes "skating" over the disc at high speeds.
  • Fade-Proof Endurance: With over 600 horsepower, the kinetic energy generated during braking is enormous. Our carbon-ceramic rotors handle temperatures exceeding 1300°C (approx. 2372°F), ensuring consistent stopping power run after run, unlike steel rotors which can overheat and fade.
  • Visual Impact: Beyond performance, the massive calipers and carbon-ceramic weave create a stunning visual upgrade, filling the wheels and signaling the car's elite performance capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why use a 10-piston caliper on a 911?
A: While 6-piston calipers are standard for high performance, a 10-piston setup offers the ultimate in clamping force distribution and pad surface area. For a 600+ hp build, this ensures that braking power is never the limiting factor, providing a massive safety margin.

Q: Why mix Akebono front and Brembo rear calipers?
A: This bespoke configuration allows us to select the best-performing component for each axle's specific needs. The Akebono front caliper offers immense power for the heavy braking load, while the Brembo rear caliper provides reliable balance and integration.

Q: Will these fit under my 20-inch wheels?
A: Yes. This specific 420mm/410mm rotor package with these calipers is engineered to fit within most high-performance 20-inch wheels, filling the barrel completely for a purposeful, race-ready look.
