Porsche 911 (991) Crabon Ceramic Brake Upgrade

The Porsche 911 (991) is an icon of engineering, but many owners face a dilemma: the standard iron brakes are effective but heavy and dusty, while the factory PCCB option is prohibitively expensive to retrofit. For the owner who wants Turbo S-level stopping power and aesthetics without the "Porsche Tax," this bespoke Custom Big Brake Kit featuring massive Brembo 10-piston calipers and StopFlex Carbon-Ceramic rotors is the ultimate solution.

The Struggle

Standard 911 braking systems, while capable, have limitations for the enthusiast:

  • Aesthetics: The standard 4 or 6-piston calipers can look undersized behind open 20-inch wheels, lacking the visual impact of the GT3 or Turbo S.
  • Unsprung Mass: Iron rotors are heavy. Reducing this rotating mass is the single most effective way to sharpen turn-in and improve suspension response.
  • Brake Dust: Factory pads generate corrosive black dust that ruins the look of your wheels after a single spirited drive.

Technical Specification

This is a complete Custom Big Brake Kit (BBK) overhaul. It upgrades the entire system to motorsport-grade hardware, replacing the factory calipers and rotors with a massive 10-piston setup that fits perfectly within 20-inch wheels.

Vehicle Porsche 911 (991.1 / 991.2)
Front Hardware Brembo 10-Piston Caliper + 410mm CCB
Rear Hardware Brembo 4-Piston Caliper + 400mm CCB
Weight Saving ≈ 20 kg (44 lbs) Total Reduction
Pad Material StopFlex Low-Dust Ceramic Compound

Compatibility Redline

This is a Custom Big Brake Kit (BBK) application. It replaces the factory calipers with aftermarket Brembo 10-piston fixed calipers. This system requires 20-inch wheels minimum for clearance and is not a direct replacement for standard calipers. Engineering Validation

1. Turbo S Stopping Power

The 10-piston Brembo caliper provides a massive increase in pad surface area and clamping force. Combined with the 410mm (16.1 in) StopFlex rotor, the system offers the same immense thermal capacity as the flagship 911 Turbo S. This ensures fade-free performance whether you are on the Autobahn or the track.

2. Sharper Dynamics

StopFlex carbon-ceramic discs are over 50% lighter than comparable iron rotors. Removing approx. 20 kg of rotating unsprung mass transforms the car's agility. Turn-in becomes crisper, acceleration is more responsive, and the suspension settles faster over mid-corner bumps.

3. Clean & Refined

This system is designed for the discerning owner. The low-dust ceramic pads keep your 20-inch wheels pristine, eliminating the need for constant cleaning. The corrosion-proof rotors ensure the car always looks showroom-ready, without the rusty hubs common on iron-braked cars.

4. Visual Impact

There is no denying the visual appeal. The massive 10-piston caliper fills the wheel barrel completely, giving a standard Carrera or Carrera S the aggressive, high-performance stance of a GT-car.

In-Depth 911 Bespoke FAQ

Q: Why use a 10-piston caliper on a standard 911?
While the factory 6-piston brakes are good, a 10-piston setup provides a massive increase in pad surface area and heat management capability. This ensures that even under extreme conditions, braking performance remains consistent and fade-free, mimicking the system on the 911 Turbo S.

Q: Does this affect the car's balance?
No. We carefully calculate the piston bore sizes and rotor diameters (410mm front / 400mm rear) to maintain the correct hydraulic bias for the 911's rear-engine layout. The car remains stable and planted under heavy braking, with ABS functioning normally.

Q: Is this system suitable for street use?
Yes. Our carbon-ceramic pads are formulated for a wide operating window, providing excellent cold bite for street driving while being capable of handling track temperatures. The smooth operation and lack of brake dust make it a pleasure to live with daily.

Q: Will this fit under my factory 20-inch wheels?
Yes. The 410mm rotor and Brembo 10-piston caliper are designed to clear most factory Porsche 20-inch wheels. However, we always recommend verifying clearance with a template, especially with some aftermarket wheel designs.

Q: What is the lifespan of these rotors?
For a street-driven 911, StopFlex long-fiber rotors are effectively a "lifetime" component. They resist wear and oxidation far better than iron, typically lasting over 200,000 km without needing replacement.
